When I Grow Up

I know that IF and only If...

if I can surrender to the wave, I can ride it,

if I am serene in a storm, I can go through it.

and if I can face the sun, I can ignite it. 

When I grow up I still want to, 

be friends with my best friend,

and that awesome adult that her kids love.

When I grow up I want to,

remain at the core as a better version of 

myself when I was younger.

When I grow up I want to, 

be kinder to myself for all the mistakes, 

to be happy in my being with all my defects.  

When I grow up I want to, 

listen more and talk less, understand more

 and judge less, love more and complain less. 

When I finally grow up I want to, 

be myself, an original version of me, 

not a second rate version of anyone else.
