A Woman's Power
It is very rare to see in a little boy,
the promise of a young man,
but one can almost always see the threat of a woman,
in a girl; but shhh don't let them know your power
Sure God created man before woman,
but then you always make a rough draft,
before a masterpiece is final,
please, don't show them the power you wield
Whatever a woman does, she has to ,
do twice as good as a man to,
be considered half as good, and when she
does, its not considered quite as real power.
A woman is wrong until she cries, then she is right
if women did not exist then all the money,
in the world would have no meaning -
but no way, that is not real power
Women are never stronger until
they arm themselves with their weakness,
a woman is as bad as she dares,
that vulnerability obscures great power
This is an age where competence is a turn-on,
a man wants a woman who can hold her own,
a mother, businesswoman, nurse; part real part illusion,
the real woman's power lies in controlling your confusion
To get a woman's heart, a man must first use his own,
where your heart is where your treasure will be adorned,
nature has given this woman so much power,
man-made laws have tried to take it away and devour.
A woman is the door way,
in which all must pass to enter this world,
the compass to guide and to protect,
but shh!!!! she doesn't know her power or her worth.
Women do rule the world, we haven't
figured it out yet, when we do, we can finally
embrace our power in all its glory, stand proudly
and celebrate this international woman's day.

Nice Girls Don't Get The Corner Office
Politics is not a four-letter word
Trying to avoid office politics is like trying to avoid the weather
Like it or not, it is what it is; politics is how things get done -
Not just in the workplace, government, or proffessional organisations alone,
If you are not involved in office politics, you're not playing the game.
and if you are not playing the game, you cannot possibly win or influence the outcome.
The business of politics is simply the business of relationships,
When you need a relationship, its too late to build it.
To survive you've got to be building relationships,
all the time and with people of all types.
A sucessful workplace relationship is one which you clearly define,
what you have to offer and what the other person can provide,
It happens all the time - without putting a name to it,
Like a relationship with a best friend, it may never be discussed
but the trade is implicit in the relationship for all to grasp.
Workplace politics are no different; each time you go out of your way
For someone or give them what they need; You have earned a figurative "chip"
That you can later cash in for something you need to necessitate your wish
So the proper way to approach the political situations in the workplace,
is like a negotiation - take time to find out what the other person needs,
what you have to offer, and how to facilitate a win-win situation,
Something in exchange for something else -don't just give in
think about what you want in exchange, don't be afraid to cash in your chips.
When did it get to be so very complicated????
Hard-work, dedication, credentials are not enough to get you promoted.
Being a woman in a male dominated workplace is like being handicapped,
There are many unspoken factors related to how things get done in an office.
If you avoid what you perceive to be a political problem,
people will only go around you - work through political situations,
To allow others to see you as a problem solver - not a problem.
You must uncover the ways to understand the hidden rules that must be followed,
if you are to successfully maneuver through the political terrain of the workplace,
to get you anywhere near the top of the ladder of success.

To My Child
People change for two reasons, you learn enough that you want to,
or you have been hurt enough that you have to.
My child, there is much in the world to make us afraid,
there is much more faith in the world to make us un-afraid.
Worrying wont keep the bad stuff from happening, it just keeps the good - yet
I worry about the kind of person I will bring into this world, I want to stop; I wish I could
I ask myself how can I want to bring a child, my child into this world?
and I realise its because there is no other world, and my child has no other way into it.
Your mother my child is an imperfect woman, still trying to find herself,
I fear for you my child that you will inherit my stubborn nature,
I have to pay attention to how I live my life because other people are,
I don't want you to be on the receiving end of all my scars,
I don't want to project unto you my failed hopes and frayed dreams,
My ambitions, strife for success are not as wonderful as they seem
How can God entrust me to be your guidance as you inhabit the earth,
When I try to define myself feels like I am trying to bite my own teeth.
A real mother is never alone in her thoughts;
She always has to think twice, one for herself and one for her child.
A real mother understands what a child does not say,
She instinctively comprehends the words in babble that you cry,
A real mother's work is never done,
She has classes to teach, food to cook and shoes to shine.
A real mother's love is spelled with T-I-M-E,
Her prayers follow you everywhere, and get there before you arrive.
Now that I am grown I understand how much work a mother does,
to love and raise and keep a family together is the highest priority she has,
My child, live for what tomorrow has to offer and not what yesterday took away,
God sometimes removes someone from our lives for our own protection - and that
Pain makes you stronger, fear makes you braver and heartbreak makes you wiser.
Making the decision to have you is momentous - we are deciding
to forever have our hearts go walking outside our bodies.
In your father I have found a heart that will love me at my worst,
Mind to understand my needs and hands to hold me at my weakest.
I try to expect nothing but I am open for anything,

She has classes to teach, food to cook and shoes to shine.
A real mother's love is spelled with T-I-M-E,
She has to juggle, balance, sacrifice and find the reason and rhymes,
A real mother is the holiest person alive,Her prayers follow you everywhere, and get there before you arrive.

I didn't look for happiness but I didn't settle for anything less.
My child, I want to be your nurse, seamstress, washerwoman,
cook, teacher, angel and saint;
and your father wants to be your guide, exempler and friend.
No servants to come between.
Only then will you be born to the best fortune we can give.
If I could make you comprehend the thoughts in my mind you wouldn't believe,
Why I am even feeling like this...and You my darling have not yet been concieved.
